HR Industry to Experience Increased Mobility, Smarter Efficiency and Strengthened C-Suite Partnerships

“HR executives will have to figure out how to work ‘smarter’ to ensure they are able to meet the many demands put in front of them,” says Sally Stetson, Co-Founder and Principal, Salveson Stetson Group

NEW YORK, NY – April 23, 2014 -IIC Partners Executive Search Worldwide, one of the world’s top ten global executive search organizations, today released its latest white paper “IIC Partners Industry Insights: Trends with Global Human Resource Executives” focusing on emerging global trends within the HR industry. The white paper examines the evolving role of the CHRO and the belief by senior executive search consultants that there will be increased executive mobility, smarter efficiency and a strengthened partnership with the CEO for HR executives in 2014.

Anne McCall, Director of The Curzon Partnership based in London, reveals that the HR sector will experience an increase in executive mobility. “As the global economy bounces back from the recession, people will move who have sat tight in their jobs. Some roles that were cut in the recession may be reinstated” stated McCall. This forecast is underscored in the 2013 BlueSteps Executive Mobility Report published by the Association of Executive Search Consultants. The study revealed that 76% of senior executives worldwide were willing to change jobs immediately for the right new opportunity.

Sally Stetson, Co-Founder and Principal of Salveson Stetson Group, anticipates an increased demand for CHROs with a renewed commitment to efficiency. “HR executives have focused a great deal of time on change management initiatives over the last number of years. They are juggling multiple priorities with fewer resources and, at the same time, have to be connected with their business colleagues to ensure they are focused on the right issues. Many HR executives will have to figure out how to work efficiently and work ‘smarter’ to ensure they are able to meet the many demands put in front of them” Stetson said.

Barbara Stahley, Principal of Chadick Ellig, sees new requirements emerging for the role of CHRO. HR executives must serve as trusted advisors and business partners to the CEO. “CHROs are expected to be a broad business partner that can help the CEO shape the strategy for business and for functions outside of HR, such as finance or supply chain” Stahley explained.
